Mandy

Mandy was born in November of 1993 to an eight month old puppy. Mandy was one of a litter of eight. The mom was apparently discarded when she became pregnant and had her puppies under a shed on the side of a highway. They were rescued and all of them, including the mom, were adopted to loving homes. I adopted Mandy in January of 1994. She was eight weeks old at the time. Mandy loved to go for walks, play in the snow, and go swimming. When we moved to Pennsylvania, I would take her to the lake or the river and she loved it. I remember one day when it was very hot out and she went swimming in an area of the river known as "The Glen". She swam around in a big circle for 45 minutes without stopping. She had so much fun in the water. She loved to play hide and seek, too, where I would hide her toy and she would run all over the house looking for it. She also loved opening presents, anyone's presents. She just loved tearing the paper off, and didn't really care much what was in it. Mandy was a wonderful friend and I will always miss her. She passed away on July 3, 2008. Click on the link to see Mandy's Page and She'll Come Home.

The Three Musketeers

In September of 2007, a feral cat I named Olivia gave birth to three little kittens. I named them Amy, Lucy and Gizmo. When Amy and Lucy were trapped to be spayed it was found that Amy was, in fact, a boy. I tried to think of a new name for Amy, but the name Amy had stuck, so I decided his name was Amy the Boy. I always called them the Three Musketeers because they were always together. Unfortunately the Three Musketeers were broken up in July of 2008 when Amy passed away from a terrible illness. Lucy succumbed to that same illness nine days later. Poor little Gizmo was lost without Amy and Lucy. In October of that same year, just a month after his first birthday Gizmo was hit and killed by a car. I found him on the side of the highway and brought him home to bury him. I will always miss the Three Musketeers. Their lives, sadly, were cut very short but those little ones packed a lot of fun into their short lives on earth. My Earth Babies

In May of 2007, four months before Amy, Lucy and Gizmo were born, Olivia gave birth to three kittens. I named them Tommy, Katie and Emma. I caught these kittens and brought them into the house to live with me. They are very happy and content in a nice, warm house with plenty of food and toys. My Feral Family

I have five feral cats living outside. I wish I could take them all in but, sadly, I cannot. They are fed every morning and night and I have built two cozy shelters for them to escape the harsh winter weather and stay warm and dry. These little ones live in danger every day, from disease, other animals, and traffic. They were born wild and don't know anything different. I wish I could do more for them but unfortunately, the best I can do is make sure they are fed and sheltered. They have a good time romping and playing outside. In March of 2009, a little guy, lost and scared, came wandering through the woods. He was injured and alone. Click on the link to read about Jackson.
